The game is afoot. Tonight the cast and filmmakers of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery gather for the long-awaited Los Angeles premiere of their film at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, reuniting for the first time since their film’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and their London Film Festival closing night premiere last month.
With Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, writer-director Rian Johnson returns to the world of suave, Southern detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) three years after the release of the first Knives Out. This time, the eccentric sleuth is summoned to a Greek private island belonging to tech entrepreneur Miles Bron (Edward Norton), and, as one might expect, mystery ensues, with a bevy of suspects played by Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.
On tonight’s carpet, the group is as stylish as their Glass Onion characters are suspicious, stunning on the red and blue carpets to celebrate their film, which has already been met with rave reactions from fans and critics alike.
Sparkle was the trend of the night, fitting for a film that features a shimmering glass onion. Jessica Henwick’s mirrored look by Tory Burch caught the camera flashes just right. Madelyn Cline shined in Atelier Versace. Kate Hudson, who was joined on the red carpet by mother Goldie Hawn, wore an Elie Saab haute couture gown. Like her co-star, Janelle Monáe also wore Elie Saab, hers a striking feather confection with a geometric flair.
Filmmaker Rian Johnson could be seen capturing moments throughout the show-stopping premiere with his own camera, always a visionary behind the lens. Leslie Odom Jr. wore a monochromatic ice-blue look, complete with enviable jewels, and Edward Norton was met with a rousing reaction from fans as he walked the red carpet. The always chic Kathryn Hahn wore a sharp and sophisticated black-and-white Carolina Herrera look.
No strangers to the Knives Out world, Jamie Lee Curtis, Katherine Langford, and Jaeden Martell had a Thrombey family reunion on the red carpet. Cline’s Outer Banks co-stars Madison Beaty and Drew Starkey represented Poguelandia at the premiere. Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne brought the glamor, while The Gray Man’s Regé-Jean Page also made an appearance on the blue carpet.
Glass Onion will be in select theaters for one week only starting November 23, and streams on Netflix globally December 23.
