Lily Collins takes on a new chapter — and country — in the latest season.
Although Emily in Paris’s fourth season delivers the signature looks, swoon-worthy romance, and professional kerfuffles that have made the series so beloved, the latest installment also finds Emily Cooper, the Chicagoan-turned-Parisian marketing executive, growing and changing. “She’s coming into her power more, in terms of work and her personal life,” says creator Darren Star (Sex and the City) of the series’ star, played by Lily Collins, who also produces.
Season 4 introduces a slate of chic characters, including an ambitious intern following too closely in Emily’s footsteps (Thalia Besson) and love interest Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), who cuts through Emily’s will-they-won’t-they routine with refreshing directness. They join the show’s returning supporting players, a stacked cast that counts Ashley Park as Emily’s singer roommate, Lucien Laviscount as her former British beau, and Lucas Bravo as her neighbor, client, and on-and-off-again flame.
Throw in a smattering of such picturesque filming locations as the French Alps and Rome, and the series is, according to Collins, “the biggest of all the seasons. It’s bolder, better, and brighter. All I can say is that every time I read an episode, my mouth was on the floor. I was laughing, and sometimes I was tearing up.”
