The extraordinary resilience and determination of veterans shine through in Archewell Productions’ docuseries Heart of Invictus, which chronicles the Invictus Games, a competitive international sporting event for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women.

Put together by the Oscar-winning team of director Orlando von Einsiedel and producer Joanna Natasegara (The White Helmets, Virunga, Evelyn), the docuseries follows competitors from around the world as they train for the 2022 games — which took place in The Hague, Netherlands.

“Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve,” said Prince Harry, founder of the Invictus Games and co-founder of Archewell Productions. “This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands.”

The Games were founded in 2014 after the Duke of Sussex returned from Afghanistan, having served two tours and witnessed the life-changing injuries, both physical and mental, with which some of his fellow soldiers returned home. He was inspired to make a difference in their lives and, after a visit to the United States’ Warrior Games, he knew that bringing the power of sport for rehabilitation to an international stage had the potential to be an incredible opportunity for thousands around the world. This fall, the sixth Games will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany with 22 nations represented.

Heart of Invictus offers a glimpse into the Invictus Games and the lives of the competing veterans. The series highlights the far-flung costs of war while illustrating how sports have a healing ripple effect on both the competitors and their families.
